I just got back from Hook N Shoot in Owensboro, KY which included a Jericho meet and greet. I was surprised that only maybe 50 people showed up for the meet and greet. The meet and greet was 5:30 - 7:30, the Hook N Shoot was 8:00 to 11:00 (I am going to estimate 1,000 people attended. Jericho was very personable and carried on extended conversations with everone. He signed posters, CD'S, action figures, whatever you asked him to sign. He would take a picture with you for those who had someone to take the picture (in other words free). You could have a picture taken by the promotion and autographed for $20 which I think is way to much (I would say this was the promotions doing and not Jericho's for the promotion to hedge their bet as far as covering costs.
Jericho told me he had a couple movie roles coming up and was going to be going in to the studio for a new Fozzy album. I told him he was smart to parlay wrestling into other projects instead of staying in wrestling and destroying his body. He said he considered himself on a break more so than being done with wrestling but I was right about destroying his body and he was taking his time to let his body heal.
He stayed for the Hook N Shoot show and set at the ring side table and reacted very animated to hard shots and slams. When the fighters rolled close to where Jericho was he slid himself backwards in his chair several feet and stayed there for the rest of the show. I guess he wants to protect his movie star looks ... LOL.
Once when he was going to the back during an intermission he came over and asked my girlfriend and I if we liked the show (we had ringside seats right behind him) we said we liked the show and it was our first time at Hook N Shoot but we goto OVW in Owensboro every month. He said it was his first Hook N Shoot also and that it was cool that we goto OVW but he didn't know OVW ran in Owensboro anymore.
The show was a tournament to crown a champion and at the end Jericho presented the belt to the winner. He then stayed and signed autographs for people who apparently didn't know about the pre show autograph session.
I posted this because wrestlers often get a bad rap and people sometimes only post negative experiences. I know Jericho got a good pay day for this but he went above and beyond to act like a regular guy and show his appreciation of the fans. -- Johnny
